ABOUT THE SHOW
This production of Beauty and the Beast aimed to create a world in which magic was truly dangerous and the stakes of the story felt high and urgent. The design team worked in tandem to make a dark world in which Belle could effect change.
Beast (Robert Quintanilla) and Belle (Mary Shae Hooper) dance together.
The most terrifying part of this show is magic. The Beast should be believably dangerous. The curse is truly turning him into a predator, and there is no fighting magic when you have none yourself. However, the root of this show is about human compassion and love. Belle is a beacon in the darkness. My sound design will create a dark world, with real stakes, for her to inhabit and change.
Mrs. Potts (Laura Powell) introduces Belle (Mary Shae Hooper) to Madame De La Grande Bouche (Michele Cheney).
